VARIETIES

We have four different varieties of strawberries, for 2011 these are Elsanta, Lucy, Florence and Judibell. This enables us to spread the picking season. Our two raspberry varieties are Tulameen and Glen Ample. We offer Invicta Green gooseberries at the start of the season followed by Red Marlett - a sweeter dessert gooseberry. Our latest additions are Early Blue and Duke Blueberries and Helen Blackberries all of which are now established.

ORDERS AND READY PICKED FRUIT

If you are unable to pick yourselves or have a function coming up and you would like us to pick your fruit for you, we would be happy to take orders for you so you can collect later. We usually have a quantity of ready picked fruit available for sale.

FRUITY IDEAS

There's nothing better than the taste of freshly picked fruit on its own or with cream or ice cream. Fill up your freezer for later use in the year. Most fruit freezes but strawberries are best laid out individually on trays for freezing and then transferred to containers afterwards. They lack firmness when defrosted but retain flavour so are best used in trifles, flans and pies.

Why not try making a fruit smoothie by blending different combinations of fresh or frozen fruit with yoghurt or ice cream. Jellies made with whole fruit, summer puddings, raspberry pavlova and ice cream sundaes make ideal bbq desserts. Jams, crumbles, pies, flans, coulis, ice cream, yoghurts are a few other ideas. Or try a chocolate fountain with freshly picked strawberries for dipping. Home made wine for warming up those winter evenings and Raspberry Vinegar for soothing sore throughts.
